As a company that does SugarCRM development and deployments – both standard and custom – we see a lot of different client requests. These range from very normal “web-to-lead” workflows all the way to building custom sales pipelines and trigger events for a more complex sales cycle.
There are times when the free / Open Source “Community Edition” makes sense for a deployment – however we always caution of clients that “free” to deploy does not also mean “free to maintain”. Often the cost can be higher for deploying the Community Edition in the end simply because so many of the features that a typical company would need out of a CRM system have to be custom developed in Community Edition.
This often includes:
- sales pipeline visualization
- estimator tools
- more robust product catalogs for quoting
- workflow creation and management
- on-demand calculation and formula modification
- and more
Some recent case studies and projects include:
Smith & Fong – Plyboo
We did a SugarCRM Community Edition deployment that included CRM tools for managing flooring, plywood and related product quotes for architects and designer clients. In addition, we created a custom reporting engine that allowed the Sugar data to push and pull from inventory control systems (ERP / MRP) and communicate to a network of re-sellers and dealers. This includes multiple warehouse requirements as well.
WCI – World Communication Inc
We were brought in to give WCI’s Community Edition of SugarCRM many of the abilities that the Professional and Enterprise Editions had. Community Edition was unique suited for this client because they had an existing legacy infrastructure that this needed to communicate with. We helped leverage CE edition into a case management and customer service portal as well as created a sales funnel and pipeline system that allowed managers a transparent view into what was going on for the entire salesforce.
In addition, we help develop a system for interfacing with the Business Process Management Software (BPM)
